Matsuyama City, Japan

Artist-in-Residence 湯-yu-
Artist-in-Residence -yu- (AIR-yu-) is an artist-in-residence program held in Matsuyama City, a castle town that has developed around Matsuyama Castle, a traditional hot spring resort famous for Dogo Hot Springs, and the largest population in the Shikoku area. TEST
The program at AIR-yu- is an opportunity for artists from Japan and abroad to experience and be inspired by Matsuyama City, designated as an 'International City of Tourism, Hot Springs and Culture,' while also being an opportunity to encounter various artists and their works in the community centered around the apartment where -yu- is located.
Residencies can be 4, 8, or 12 weeks in length, and participating artists are able to present a performance or exhibition at -yu-'s gallery or at one of our partner venues. (We support with venue provision, collaboration with local artists, etc. as much as possible.) There are no restrictions on artistic discipline. Applications for the artist-in-residence are accepted on a rolling basis.
